The Donor Recognition Feature

Share the Story, Share the Gift

Walk into the lobby of Mercy Regional Medical Center and you are certain to be drawn to the free-standing feature recognizing donors who support the hospital through Mercy Health Foundation.

For the different levels of giving, five symbols were selected for the Donor Recognition Feature.

The symbols are created in the Mimbres style.  They are derived from designs on pre-historic pottery from the Mimbres area in Southwestern New Mexico.  Each design had its own unique symbolism.  The illustrations chosen are designs of five animals:  a deer, fish, quail, rabbit, and turtle.  The designs represent specific ideas and expressions that are significant connections between healing, courage and inspiring others in life’s journey.

Plaques affixed to the feature display names of donors.  Beneath the wall, images of Mimbre symbols are etched into glass set in the floor.

Please contact the Mercy Health Foundation at (970) 764-2800 for more information about the Donor Recognition Feature.

Donor Recognition Feature Levels of Giving:

Deer symbolizes tenderness in work, thought, touch, ability to listen, grace, appreciation for the beauty of balance, an understanding of what is necessary for survival, power of gratitude and giving. There is the connection with nature and the ability to sacrifice for the greater good. The deer teaches us to find gentleness of spirit that heals all wounds and to achieve a balance of love and compassion for all.

Presidents Circle ~$500,000

Rabbit symbolizes moving through fear, living by one’s own wits, receiving intuitive messages and quick thinking. Rabbit represents humility because he is quiet, soft and not self asserting. We are reminded not to be afraid.

Founders Circle ~$100,000

Quail symbolizes a strong sense of community and family ties. Joy and boldness are inherited qualities of the quail. A sense of purpose in serving family creates quail’s mission. There is a connection to earth in that it prefers to stay close to the ground even though it has the ability to fly, and it uses instinct to guide it safely through perilous situations.

Circle of Partners ~$10,000

Turtle has a strong connection with the Center, or Mother Earth. It respects the boundaries of others, developing new ideas, self reliance, tenacity and non-violent defense. Turtle has the ability to go within – he can withdraw into his shell and protect himself from danger.

Circle of Hope ~$5,000

Fish symbolizes wisdom and inner knowing. Fish honor every event in life as a gathering of wisdom. Even when the flow of life seems to push hard, fish can tap the hidden resources of inner strength and spirit. Fish finishes what it begins and has a sense of purpose that cannot be interrupted by external forces. Fish teaches us to see every bend in the river as a new adventure and teaches lessons we need in order to grow.

Circle of Caring ~$1,000

MAKE AN IMPACT

In March 2007, Mercy Health Foundation at Mercy Regional Medical Center received a very prestigious award.  The Colorado Business Committee for the Arts presented Mercy with a 2007 Workspace Award.  The Donor Recognition Feature is a sculpture on its own that enhances the overall aesthetics of Mercy Regional Medical Center.
