Dear Friend of the Foundation, Mercy Health Foundation wants to thank you for supporting our Foundation over the years by providing you with a Legacy Booklet. We hope you will find it useful in organizing some of the more significant decisions made in our lifetime such as what your legacy will be in life, what will be handed on to future generations and your favorite charities.
We hope the Foundation is one of your favorite charities, but the Will Information Kit is primarily for your own use. Included in the kit is a brochure which includes information about Mercy Health Foundation, making bequests in your will, definitions and common terms used in estate planning, and much, much more. Additionally, we have included a booklet to write down your wishes to get you started thinking of all the decisions you may need to include in leaving items to your loved ones. We have information on Eight Ways to Make a Bequest, and two estate planning documents to use as worksheets. You should not return it to us. It’s a place to record your decision about your legacy, and make things easier for your loved ones when you pass on. You can add copies of your personal papers to this packet.
A professional advisor will tell you that a will is probably the single most important legal document an individual can own; yet most people pass away without one unaware of the pain and confusion they are leaving behind. A will provides an opportunity to determine who will receive what after you are gone. By creating a will, you pay tribute to your loved ones and at the same time create a legacy - what a great way to honor you and your family. A will gives you the chance to transfer the valuables that are most important to you, and one of the best ways to leave a legacy in life is by making a charitable bequest.
Bequests (a gift through a “will”) are among the simplest and most popular ways to support Mercy Health Foundation. All you need to do is notify us of your bequest intentions. A gift to Mercy Health Foundation, through a bequest, can help shape the future of health care for our community, and it is free of federal estate tax. Many times, people find that a gift they thought they would not be able to donate outright becomes possible after all, through a will. Plus, when you make a charitable bequest to us, it is a fitting testimony of your belief in our mission of caring and helping all patients, families, neighbors and loved ones in need of care at Mercy.
Mercy Health Foundation would like to graciously thank you if you have included us in your will already. Recently, one of our donors passed away, and we discovered he had left us in his will. We are so grateful for his compassion and generosity because he is continuing to touch the lives of many. We wish we would have known sooner, so we could have thanked him personally.
Including Mercy Health Foundation through a codicil (an addition or supplement) will bring you joy and will help guarantee the future of our work for generations to come. Please let us know if you have included the Mercy Health Foundation in your will through an email, a letter, a phone call, or by stopping in the foundation office. We want you to know how much you are appreciated.
The kit will provide suggested language for a charitable gift to Mercy Health Foundation. It will help guide you in discussions with your family and your legal or tax advisors in determining what is right for you. Please do not hesitate to call with any questions you may have regarding the Mercy Health Foundation or any programs and services provided by Mercy Regional Medical Center. We would be privileged to meet you and give you a personal tour of the hospital so you can see how contributions make an impact on many lives that are touched by the generosity of others.
We hope you find the kit helpful, of value, and deeply meaningful. Thank you again for being a supporter of our mission, our hospital, and excellence in health care for our friends, neighbors and family long after we are gone.
Most Sincerely,
|
